CSSD provides a wide range of academic software to University students, faculty, staff, and departments. Many programs, including anti-virus and anti-spyware software, are available at no cost at software.pitt.edu. Software is available through the following resources:
Online Software Buyer’s Guide – The 2008-09 Software Buyer’s Guide catalog is now available online! As a University of Pittsburgh faculty or staff member, more than 100 software titles are available to you at significant savings. Now you can browse the complete catalog or simply print the pages you want.
Campus Computing Labs – More than 120 software packages are available for Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and UNIX platforms.
Faculty Computing Program – Teaching Faculty members enrolled in this program can access a wide variety of academic software programs. Please visit the Faculty page for details.
PittNet Complete CD – The PittNet Complete CD includes essential software to help students, faculty, and staff make the most of computing at Pitt. These can be picked up for free at any campus computing lab.
Software Licensing Services (SLS) – Software Licensing Services (105 Bellefield Hall) provides software to students, faculty, staff, and departments at significantly reduced prices or at no cost. Visit the Students page, Faculty page, or Staff page to view a list of available software titles.
software.pitt.edu – The University’s Electronic Software Distribution Service provides software that can be downloaded at no cost. Visit software.pitt.edu for a complete list of available titles.
Software Usage Requirements:
Software is only available to members of the University community.
You must log in with your University computing account username and password to download software from software.pitt.edu.
You must present a valid University of Pittsburgh ID to obtain software at SLS or at a campus computing lab.
You must comply with all license and usage agreements established by CSSD and the software vendor.
CSSD welcomes your input! If there is a particular software package you would like to use that is not currently offered through any of the software resources, please suggest it by completing a Software Request Form.
